No Carve Pumpkin Decorating

by Desi Creswell, Tastemaker in Residence

Fall has arrived and Halloween is just around the corner –that means it’s time for pumpkin decorating! While I can certainly appreciate an intricately carved pumpkin, I’d rather admire someone else’s than take the time to complete one myself. I have a feeling there are others out there just like me so I’ve scoured the web to find my favorite, no carve pumpkin decorating ideas. Not only are these projects quick and easy, they’re also a safe option for kids who want to decorate their own pumpkin!

Lacy Pumpkin Pattern {Martha Stewart}

Create a chic design with nothing more than a pair of lacy stockings and a can of spray paint. For a two-tone effect, spray paint the pumpkin one color and then use the lace stockings and a second color of spray paint for the pattern.

Mad for Plaid Washi Tape {Real Simple}

If you haven’t tried Washi Tape (similar to masking tape but it comes in a wide variety of colors and designs) now is the time!

Color Dipped Pumpkins {Brit + Co}

These color dipped pumpkins are quick, easy, and will add a graphic punch to your outdoor décor.

Studly Pumpkin {Brit + Co}

For this look all you need are some craft store studs. Press them right into the pumpkin – no hammer or special tools required! Try a mix of metal finishes for an on-trend look.

Chalkboard Messages {Rachel Ray Magazine}

Use a can of chalkboard paint to create a unique surface for fun or scary sayings.
