Spectacular Blooms in Vintage Containers

It's outdoor weather (finally) after a rough and tumble winter – one that overstayed its welcome in a lot of the country. That means that everything's going green if it isn't already green and blooming. We can't always be outside, but we can bring the outside into the house (or work) with potted plants and cut flowers. And you can elevate even the leafiest plant or spectacular blooms by placing them in vintage containers. We dipped into the MidModMen+friends inventory of mid-century pottery and glass to show you how we do it.

Leafy but flower-shy plants can get their shot of color by being nested in decorative containers, like this 1960s vintage Italian clay pot by Bitossi with a bold floral pattern and saturated glaze. 

This Swedish smoked glass pitcher is just right for fresh sprigs of lilacs straight from on the yard. Create a vignette by adding objects made from other materials. This hand-carved wood bird pairs perfectly with the floral arrangement

Sometimes you can never have too much color. These intensely colored cut flowers hold their own even when placed in a saturated blue glass bowl from Blenko. The pebbled glass vessel in amethyst cools the arrangement down.
