National Chocolate Ice Cream Day

My husband quite possibly could have been born with an ice cream scoop in his hand. No matter how often I say to him, "how in the world am I supposed to lose weight when you're buying ice cream all the time?". His devilish reply is always the same; they had a BOGO and I just couldn't resist. Well now, neither can I. June 7th is Chocolate Ice Cream Day, so I'm going to hide out. 

Katie Chin's Banana Walnut Wontons are not only fabulous by themselves but provide one more reminder that there is a silent but deadly battle between chocolate ice cream purist and vanilla ice cream aficionados that prefer their chocolate add-on in the form of chocolate sauce or syrup poured over the top.

So I'm offering up this recipe as a way to distract you, if only for a bit, from your Chocolate Ice Cream~as I'm in the pour the chocolate over the top of a fabulous vanilla, camp!

NATIONAL CHOCOLATE ICE CREAM DAY

To observe National Chocolate Ice Cream Day on June 7 all you need is chocolate ice cream.  Who says you have to stop there, though? You can have it in a cone or make it from scratch.  Add sprinkles or syrup or whipped cream. 

Chocolate ice cream is the second most common flavor, surpassed only by vanilla.  The chocolate flavored ice cream has been in existence well over a hundred years and has been popular in the United States since the late 19th century.

Cocoa powder is blended in with eggs, cream, vanilla and sugar to make chocolate ice cream.  The cocoa powder is what gives the ice cream a brown color.  Other flavors, such as rocky road or triple chocolate chunk, use chocolate ice cream in their creation.
