I learn more about a season of time, not just by looking ahead at what’s to come, but looking back at what worked and what didn't. So stay tuned as I serve up a list of new and old years recipes, tabletop, inspiration and treats.

Two of my favorite fancy NYEve table-top decor. There are a few things these two tables have in common.
The tablecloth disguises a large oval white plastic outdoor table.
The glassware all came from my family.
Go to an antique store to find the silver cups; I cannot begin to remember all the ways I’ve used those cups.
See those sparkling gold stones on the outdoor table? Go to any craft store and buy a bag of gold, silver or red, and you will use them every year multiple times; they are not expensive and make a big SPLASH!!
Candles make a giant difference. Again, go to the antique store and find some funky or fancy candlesticks. They will serve you well for a very long time!!

"I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes. Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You're doing things you’ve never done before, and more importantly, you're doing something. So that's my wish for you, and all of us, and my wish for myself. Make new mistakes. Make glorious, amazing mistakes. Make mistakes nobody's ever made before. Don't freeze, don't stop, don't worry that it isn't good enough, or it isn't perfect, whatever it is: art, or love, or work or family or life. Whatever it is you're scared of doing, Do it. Make your mistakes, next year and forever." -Neil Gaiman - Submitted by Irina Vishnevskaya, Tastemaker in Residence
