Spreading Kindness

We all can use some extra kindness right now! Hit the like button if you agree!
Kindness is a powerful behavior that spreads joy to those around you while unleashing positive energy from the core of your own soul! Spreading kindness involves being present in each moment and observing opportunities to intentionally bless others. It’s really quite simple once you make it a priority for each day. If you need a jump start to help you make it a priority, I highly recommend the book The One Year Daily Acts of Kindness Devotional.
I think it is also important to note that spreading kindness does not have to be expensive or elaborate. It DOES require awareness so try tucking away your mobile device as you walk into the supermarket and scan the parking lot for an opportunity to bless somebody with kindness.
This is one of my favorite places to seek such opportunities. Perhaps, you can help someone with limited physical abilities get groceries in their car. Or, extend some help to a parent needing an extra set of hands while simultaneously trying to keep their child(ren) safe in the parking lot and getting bagged goods into the car. Although these are just a few examples, acts of kindness are not restricted to supermarket parking lots.
Other simple opportunities for spreading kindness include the following:
Mail a card to someone you think needs some good cheer
Say “Hello” to an unfamiliar person when you are out for a walk
Complete an errand for a neighbor
Cook and bring dinner to a friend that is having a difficult week
Surprise your spouse with a random note or token of appreciation for all they contribute to your household or relationship
Call the garbage company and recognize your driver for all their hard work especially when they go out of their way to provide exceptional service
Send a teacher a note of appreciation for all their efforts in teaching your child(ren) especially given the challenges of teaching during a pandemic
I could easily list 100 ideas here…the possibilities are endless! So, stop making excuses and challenge yourself to completing one act of kindness each day for three weeks. One thing for certain, it’s addicting and so rewarding! You may even form a new habit! And, if you believe in karma, you never know what blessings will come your way!
