Mailboxes of Marco Island

by Teri E. Popp, Tastemaker in Residence

Everybody likes to collect something, be it tangible or intangible—teapots, salt & pepper shakers, stamps, photos, or memories!  As my regular readers know, I collect photos of doors from all over the world.

Here are just a few of Teri’s favorite doors. For more fabulously unique doors, please visit…

But over the years, there are some locations we have frequented and I’ve—quite frankly—taken photos of most of doors in that particular location.  That is what has happened on our yearly trip to Marco Island, Florida.  We’ve been going there over 30 years now, so I needed an alternative to door photos.  And that’s when my husband pointed out the plethora of imaginative and sculptural mailboxes located all over Marco.

From the traditional manatees and dolphins, to the more exotic flamingos, mermaids, peacocks, deer and octopus, Marco offers mailbox collectors a treasure trove!  So, no matter what your particular passion, collections of photos can surely highlight your interest!

Just enjoy these whimsical mailboxes. You just might find your very own passion for collecting!
